Help and contact
Contact the Ciranda team
Write to support@awayproof.com. We reply by email.
Use the same email to ask for a copy of your data, ask about privacy, talk about a suspended account or ask for someone to be let back into a trip.
Report something
In the app
- Touch and hold a comment and choose Report comment.
- In People, open the menu next to the name and choose Report.
- In My trips, touch and hold the trip cover and choose Report photo.
On the link
- Tap on a comment and choose Report comment.
Without the app, or if you're in a photo and not on the trip
Send support@awayproof.com the trip link and tell us what's wrong.
Reports are confidential: nobody finds out who reported.
The Ciranda team reviews every report. Until then, the content stays visible. Then we may keep the content, remove it, change an offensive name or suspend the account.
In the app, the same menu has Block, to stop seeing someone's comments.
How blocking works
- Blocking is only in the app. People on the link without an account can't block.
- You stop seeing the comments and invites of the person you blocked.
- Nobody is told.
- Their votes, ideas and expenses still count on the trip.
- To undo it: Profile and settings → Blocked people.
Delete your account
You can delete it in the app, in Profile and settings. Without the app, ask by email.
Only joined through the link?
Without an account, your votes and comments are tied to this browser. On the trip page, tap "change name" and choose Delete my data from this trip.
It has to be the browser you used. Lost the link or the browser? Write to support@awayproof.com.
Who can do what on a trip
- Everyone on the trip votes, suggests ideas, comments, logs expenses and settles up.
- People who can edit also change the route: cities, dates and legs.
- Whoever looks after the trip also manages the links, the people and the trip's currency, and chooses who can edit.
A trip has two links: one for editing and one for voting and suggesting. The link decides what a new person can do:
- With the link, in a browser and without an account, people can see the route, vote, comment and suggest ideas.
- In the app, people who join with the editing link can edit the route, vote and log expenses.
- In the app, people who join with the voting link vote, suggest ideas and log expenses, without editing the route.
To edit the route, someone who is only on the link has to join in the app.
Removing someone and not letting them back in
Whoever looks after the trip can remove someone in People, from the menu next to their name.
- Expenses the person paid or shared stay and still count in settle up, with their name followed by "(left the trip)".
- Their votes and comments stay too, with their name.
When you remove someone, you can tick Don't let them back in:
- For someone with an account, no link to this trip works for that account any more.
- For someone who only joined through the link, it applies to the browser they used. In another browser, the link still works.
To be sure, create a new link in Invite with a link. The old link stops working, and people who joined stay.
Without this option, the person can come back through a trip link. To let someone back in later, write to support@awayproof.com.
Cover photos
- People who can edit the trip add, replace or remove the cover photo. Whoever uploaded the photo can always remove it.
- The cover shows the name of whoever uploaded the photo.
- Anyone with the trip link sees the cover. Use a photo the group is happy to share.
- Photos follow the rules in the Terms of use: nothing offensive, nothing that exposes someone without their permission.
- The WhatsApp link preview always uses the default cover, never the group photo.
To report a photo: in My trips, touch and hold the cover and choose Report photo. If you're in a photo and not on the trip, write to support@awayproof.com with the trip link. Nobody finds out who reported, and the photo stays on the cover until it's reviewed.
How Ciranda does the math
How we estimate costs
- Amounts with ≈ are estimates, not quotes.
- Legs and places usually have a price range, like ≈ R$ 680–1,240. To add them up we use the middle of each range. On the Summary, "See range" shows the sum of the lows and of the highs.
- The estimated total includes lodging, legs (the chosen mode, the amount paid or, if no mode is chosen yet, the suggestion) and the estimates of places planned for the days. Ideas that aren't on a day aren't counted.
- If the trip has a starting point, travel from and back home is in the total.
- Amounts in other currencies are converted at the latest rate, with its date shown.
Average per person and Your share
On the trip link and in the PDF, the per-person amount is an average: the estimated total divided by the number of people. If someone isn't going to one of the cities, the page says so, because the average leaves out travel people arranged on their own.
In the app, "Your share" shows what's yours: the lodging of the stops you're in, split among the people in them, the legs you're on, and the per-person estimate of places planned on those stops' days.
Exchange rates
- To convert amounts in other currencies, we use the European Central Bank's mid-market rate.
- For currencies the European Central Bank doesn't publish, such as the Argentine peso, we use another source, and the expense shows "alternative source". Rates By Exchange Rate API.
- If there was no rate on the day of the expense (a weekend or holiday), we use the latest one before it, and the expense shows the date used.
- Each expense keeps the rate it used and its date.
- Your card bill uses your bank's rate and fees, so the amount can be different.
How settle up is calculated
- Balance = expenses you paid − your share of the expenses, with the payments already recorded between people.
- A positive balance receives; a negative balance pays.
- Settle up suggests the fewest transfers that bring every balance to zero.
- Amounts are in the trip's currency, to the cent. Each expense's shares are rounded so they add up exactly to its total.
- When someone records a payment, the transfers are recalculated.
Accessibility
The summary PDF doesn't work well with screen readers. Open the trip link: the web Summary and Day-by-day plan have the same content and are accessible.
